My Blog
I don't know if anyone of you live or have been affected by the raging fires in Southern California, but it has been terrible to anyone and everyone in the So-Cal area.
For the past few days my area hasn't been affected all that much by the fires, we have been hearing about it and seeing the smoke in the air, but nothing horrible. Until a fire popped up really close to us called the Santiago fire I believe which is about 15 minutes away from us driving. Although it does not pose a threat to my area in the sense where it will burn down my house and school, we have been getting all the smoke and ash blown our way.
Today the sky was orange and the sun was dark red. To add to the horrible conditions already, the air quality was horrible. First time I've ever seen in my life the air quality this bad in my area. We could breathe, but it wasn't enjoyable to say the least.
Well, now that it has gotten so bad, my school has been canceled tomorrow and if persists maybe for the rest of the week. This is good and bad. Good because I don't have to take my AP Euro test tomorrow and bad because the fires are close enough that if the winds picked up in our direction we might have to evacuate our houses. Which would suck.
My last point is that the law enforcement believe that two of the about 14 different fires are confirmed to be the work of Arsonists...the fire burning near my area is suspected to be one of the arson fires.
My question is how sick does a person have to be that they start a fire that is burning down people's houses and ruining people's lives. People are losing their houses, their one major investment in Southern California considering how expensive houses have become in this area.
I hate AP classes...
They are hard. Or at least one of them I am taking is.
AP Biology. Every night we have like 4 hours worth of homework just dedicated to that class and 3/4 of it is reading out of one of the most boring books ever.
Plus I'm behind because I joined the class late so I have tons of make-up work to do and I am not even close to finishing it.
So yea, Biology suxoorz.
Well, school snuck up on me. One moment I was living in the summertime next moment school is starting tomorrow.
Argh...
Summer went by fast considering this is the record for the shortest summer in my school's history.
Argh...
Well, whatever, I'm getting used to less sleep and longer working hours so I should be alright. Sophomore year is going to be hard considering my classes, but I'm fairly prepared right now. My brother took the same classes as me when he went through high school and his junior year he slept 3 hours a day so I'm pumped for that (not really). Though my brother did go to UC Berkeley so I'm pumped if I can make it there (really).
Thanks for reading this blog, well more like a rant to me.
I'm just kidding, school should be fine and I'm excited, just not exciting that I basically can't play counter-strike anymore and am probably giving it up 'til a holiday comes along because I don't have the time.
I love how my last blog was about vacation and this was about school...wish I could take a time machine back...well not really cause I don't want to have to do my summer homework again...
Well, I just recently got back from Vacation where I visited Southeast Asia, specifically Thailand and Vietnam. For the most part it was a great trip. The only downsides to it was the 19-hour flight to there and back as well as the intense heat which coupled with severe humidity makes it quite uncomfortable to go outside. Especially when you are outside for most of the day visiting the people and experiencing the culture. The people there overall were very friendly and treated us with respect. Little fact that I learned about Thailand is that they now have a third gender for transexuals because transexual people make up 10% of their population. That means that one out of every ten people I saw were probably transexual. A fact that creeped me out at first, but then I got used to it and stopped wondering if the person I was looking at was a transexual...
As for Vietnam, I loved it. It was my first time there, but I really enjoyed it. There are so many beautiful beaches and the sand there is as white as any Counter-Strike player who doesn't go out much. The beaches I would say are comparable to the ones in Cancun (which has nice beaches). However the downside to Vietnam was not only the heat, but also the Communists. I mean I'm ok with them being Communist, but it's just how little respect and how bad of treatment I got because I was American. For example, when I first arrived at the airport you must go through customs and the guy at the booth gave me such a hard time asking very prying questions. It was ridiculous. Another thing is, is that if they know you are a foreigner and generally the only people there are French and American, they will jack up the prices to almost double because they know you can afford it. Example, when I went to go buy a souvenir for a cousin of mine and I asked how much it was, the lady at the booth looked at me from head to toe before telling me the price. It was very blatant that she just made that the price because I was a foreigner.
Though overall, I really loved the countries and recommend if you want a nice, culturally different place to visit on a vacation, then Southeast Asia is a good place to go. Though one warning, if you want relaxation, then don't book a tour that takes to you many different locations, just stay in one resort that you find is nice because a tour is the exact opposite of relaxation. If you are, however, looking to be immersed in culture and the people then please do book a tour.
Thanks for reading,

BTW, this is my first blog! Also I might add pictures later, though I can't now because I don't have them all uploaded onto my computer.
